- Dogs are curious creatures. The easiest way for them to escape is an open door, window - any gaps they could fit through.
- Before you leave the house, make sure the house is secure.

Ensure Your Dog is Identifiable
- Collar With ID Tag: Should include the Dog's Name, Your Contact, and License Tags (where applicable).
- Microchip: Should include up-to-date contact information.
- Licensing: Some states require you to license your dog. Animal shelters use license tags to contact owners quickly. Visit your local city (or county) animal services department for more information.
If Your Dog is Missing...
What Should You Do?
Search: the immediate area and ask nearby people if they saw anything.
Prepare: last confirmed date&time, exact place, pictures, and identifying features.
Report: the loss by calling the local animal control, animal services, or non-emergency police.
Then, post information on: Petco LoveLost,
PawBoost, 24PetConnect, and Pet FBI.
You could also put up large flyers.
